On Wednesday, students from TDAS & J attended a meeting at Nene Park Trust organised by Peterborough Citizens. The guest of honour was Mayor Dr Nik Johnson. Our students told the story of a TDA family who were made homeless and then spent 5 months living in 2 small Travelodge rooms with 4 children. Mayor Nik, a paediatric doctor, was so choked up by the testimony he needed a moment to collect himself before he could speak. Inspired by our students' compassion, Dr Nik made a commitment to support our campaign to inform schools when children are in hotels or hostels and to work towards ending the placement of children in temporary accommodation for good. Superb work from Hania Darr (6), Luiss Bundzinieks (6), Jeanie Everitt (7), Riqbah Majid (8), Reya Khawaja (9) who delivered such a compelling speech!
